
Nigerians on social media are reacting with shock and sadness to the tragic story of a young woman who died in Lekki, Lagos, after an overhead water tank collapsed onto her apartment while she was asleep.
The deceased, identified as Cynthia Oguzie, had reportedly just moved into the apartment two months ago. According to eyewitness reports, the tank fell from above, crashed through the roof and ceiling, and landed directly into her bedroom, fatally injuring her.
Cynthia, said to be 30 years old, was reportedly taking a nap at the time of the incident. A Nigerian medical doctor with the handle @Drweloveu shared the story on X (formerly Twitter), mourning her untimely death and suggesting that she may have suffered severe internal injuries due to the force of the impact.
The incident has triggered outrage and deep concern online, with many Nigerians questioning the structural safety of residential buildings and the positioning of heavy water tanks in densely populated areas.
