Tinubu Steps In as Wike Seals PDP Secretariat, Draws Praise from Dele Momodu.

Prominent journalist and political commentator, Chief Dele Momodu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reportedly intervening in the controversial decision by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, to seal the national secretariat of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.

In a strongly worded reaction shared from the United States, Chief Momodu described Wike as a “cantankerous” and “querulous” figure whose recent actions risk destabilizing the political climate and undermining democratic values. He noted that while government enforcement against defaulters is necessary, it must never be driven by political vendetta.

“Government must always restrain itself from vindictive outbursts such as that of Nigeria’s most querulous politician who I’m sure is fast becoming a liability to your government,” Momodu said, addressing President Tinubu directly.

The former presidential aspirant praised the President’s timely intervention, noting that it had reaffirmed Tinubu’s authority as the singular leader of Nigeria’s federal government.

“We used to think we have two Presidents in Nigeria, TINUBU and WIKE. Now, we know WIKE has a Boss who can checkmate his excesses,” he remarked pointedly.

Momodu also used the opportunity to reflect on the political crisis in Rivers State, where former governor Wike has been widely accused of disrupting Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration. He urged President Tinubu to take similar decisive action to bring stability to the region.

“How I wished you had stopped his reckless disruption and distraction of the SIM FUBARA government and saved the hapless people from this unfortunate contraption called emergency rule,” he added.

In drawing a comparison between Wike and other cabinet members, Momodu praised Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, for his humility and discipline, contrasting it with what he called Wike’s “tautological press conferences” and unrestrained behavior.
