Protest Erupts in Onitsha Electronics Market Over Alleged Poor Settlement of Apprentice.

Tension flared in the bustling Onitsha electronics market today as traders staged a protest over what they described as the unjust settlement of an apprentice, popularly referred to as Nwa Boi, by his master (Oga).

According to eyewitness reports, the apprentice, who had completed several years of dedicated service under the mentorship of his Oga, was allegedly offered only ₦1 million as his settlement package — a sum many traders and observers in the market deemed grossly inadequate given the apprentice’s years of hard work.

The situation escalated when fellow traders, who were outraged by what they saw as exploitation, demanded that the apprentice be settled with no less than ₦5 million.

One trader, told our reporter “This boy has served for many years with loyalty and dedication. Offering him ₦1 million is a slap in the face. We will not allow such injustice to go unnoticed.”
