UNILAG Arts Alumni to Launch ₦500m Endowment Fund as Faculty Marks 60 Years.

The Faculty of Arts Alumni Association of the University of Lagos has announced plans to unveil a ₦500 million Endowment Trust Fund as part of activities lined up to commemorate the Faculty’s 60th anniversary celebration.

The landmark initiative is aimed at strengthening the faculty’s academic standing by channeling resources into research, infrastructure development, scholarships, and student support programmes. Alumni leaders say the fund will serve as a permanent pool of resources to advance teaching and learning, while also cementing the Faculty’s reputation as a leading centre of scholarship in Nigeria and beyond.

According to the Association, the Trust Fund reflects the alumni’s determination to give back to the institution that shaped their intellectual and professional journeys. It will also serve as a rallying point for graduates of the Faculty, uniting different generations in a shared mission of growth and sustainability.

The 60th anniversary celebrations will feature a week-long programme of events, including public lectures, cultural showcases, awards, and reunion activities that highlight the Faculty’s six decades of influence in shaping Nigeria’s arts, humanities, and cultural discourse. The unveiling of the Endowment Fund is expected to be the high point of the festivities.

Founded in 1965, the UNILAG Faculty of Arts has produced some of the country’s most distinguished writers, scholars, diplomats, cultural icons, and public intellectuals. As it turns 60, the alumni are confident that the new fund will secure its legacy for generations to come.
