Skypower Express Cessna 172 Crashes at Owerri Airport.

A Cessna 172 aircraft operated by Skypower Express, with registration number 5N-ASR, has crashed at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, in Imo State, causing panic among airport users and nearby residents.

The incident occurred when the light aircraft reportedly developed a technical problem while approaching the airport, forcing the pilot to attempt an emergency landing. During the process, the aircraft crash-landed within the airport vicinity, sustaining serious damage.

Sources confirmed that four persons were on board at the time of the crash, including the pilot. No fatalities were recorded, as all occupants were rescued alive. Some of those on board were said to have received medical attention as a precaution following the incident.

Emergency responders, airport security personnel, and aviation officials were swiftly deployed to the scene to secure the area and prevent further danger. The crash did not result in a fire outbreak, and airport operations were restored shortly after the situation was brought under control.

Meanwhile, aviation authorities have launched an investigation into the crash to determine its exact cause. Findings from the probe are expected to guide safety recommendations and prevent a recurrence of similar incidents in the future.
