The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has killed over 40 insurgents during a series of precision airstrikes carried out in parts of Borno State, effectively disrupting planned attacks and weakening terrorist operations in the area.
The airstrikes were conducted under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai following credible intelligence on the movement and gathering of insurgent fighters. The first operation targeted a large group of terrorists assembling around the Tumbuns area, where they were believed to be preparing coordinated attacks along key routes.
NAF fighter jets engaged the targets, resulting in heavy casualties among the insurgents, while several others were forced to flee in disarray. In a separate mission, air assets provided close air support to ground troops who were engaged in clearance operations, striking remaining terrorist elements attempting to regroup under cover.
Military sources confirmed that the successful operations significantly degraded the terrorists’ fighting capacity and disrupted their plans to attack civilian communities and security formations.
The airstrikes have been described as part of sustained efforts by the Armed Forces of Nigeria to maintain pressure on insurgent groups operating in the North-East, particularly Boko Haram and ISWAP factions.
Residents in affected areas reported improved security and reduced terrorist movement following the operations, as troops continue clearance and stability missions across the region.
