The LSFRS confirmed that 12 personnel in the control tower and six others in adjoining sections were safely rescued. The six individuals sustained minor injuries but are now in stable condition. Thick smoke from the blaze briefly disrupted flight operations, forcing the diversion of some international flights.

Authorities reported that the fire affected the adjoining radio communication room but was confined to the old terminal building, preventing damage from spreading to other sections under reconstruction. Normal flight operations have resumed at the new terminal while Terminal 1 remains closed pending assessment.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service emphasized that investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing. Officials are coordinating with airport and security authorities to ensure the safety of passengers, staff, and travelers at the facility.

Travelers are advised to monitor flight updates and exercise caution when visiting airport areas near the old terminal. Nijatravel will continue to provide verified reports on airport safety and operational developments to help readers plan their trips effectively.
