The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has confirmed the successful resolution of a labour dispute with the Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU), bringing to an end concerns over a potential strike that could have disrupted airport operations across the country.

The agreement was reached after a series of constructive and collaborative discussions that brought together KAA, KAWU, and relevant government ministries. As a result, KAWU has officially called off the strike notice it had issued earlier, averting a crisis in the aviation sector.

According to KAA, the dialogue demonstrated the importance of partnership and mutual understanding in addressing labour-related matters. The authority reiterated its commitment to upholding the welfare of its employees while ensuring that the country’s airports continue to operate without interruption.

Industry observers note that a strike would have had significant consequences on both domestic and international travel, especially given Kenya’s role as a regional aviation hub. The resolution is therefore seen as a positive development for passengers, airlines, and the broader tourism and trade sectors.

KAA expressed gratitude to the government ministries that participated in the negotiations, highlighting their role in facilitating a balanced outcome that satisfied all parties involved. The authority also assured the public that it remains dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and efficient airport services.

The Kenya Aviation Workers Union, on its part, welcomed the outcome of the talks, stressing that the agreement represents a step forward in improving working conditions for its members while maintaining stability in the aviation industry.
