History was made in Ibadan as the first flight landed at the newly upgraded Ladoke Akintola International Airport, marking a new dawn for air travel in Oyo State and the South-West region.

The airport, which has undergone extensive renovations to meet international standards, welcomed its inaugural flight in a ceremony that drew dignitaries, aviation stakeholders, and excited residents. The upgrade includes an extended runway from 2,400 to 3,000 meters, widened taxiways, improved lighting systems, and enhanced emergency response facilities, setting the stage for both domestic and future international operations.

Governor Seyi Makinde and aviation officials hailed the arrival as a milestone achievement, emphasizing the airport’s potential to boost trade, tourism, and investment in the region. The facility is now equipped with Customs and Immigration infrastructure, making it ready for international connectivity in the near future.

With the successful reception of its first flight, the upgraded Ibadan Airport is set to redefine the city’s place on Nigeria’s aviation map, offering travelers a modern, convenient alternative to Lagos and Abuja.
