Emirates Sydney Symphony Orchestra partnership has been renewed as the airline extends its long-standing collaboration with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra through 2028. The agreement strengthens a relationship that has lasted more than two decades, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting music, culture, and global connectivity through travel and the arts.

The renewed agreement marks Emirates’ longest-running non-sports sponsorship, highlighting the airline’s continued investment in cultural partnerships. The collaboration aims to expand audience engagement through performances, digital initiatives, and global exposure for orchestral music.

To celebrate the renewal, members of the orchestra performed at Sydney Airport, staging a special performance in front of an Emirates aircraft. The presentation included the premiere of Takeoff, a newly commissioned musical piece composed specifically to symbolise the connection between aviation and music in bringing people together across borders.

Under the renewed arrangement, the orchestra’s performances will feature more prominently on Emirates’ inflight entertainment system, allowing passengers worldwide to access curated classical music content. The initiative is expected to introduce orchestral performances to millions of international travellers while strengthening cultural exchange through entertainment.

Barry Brown, Divisional Vice President Australasia at Emirates, said the partnership reflects shared values of creativity and excellence. He noted that both music and travel inspire people and create meaningful connections, making the collaboration a natural alignment for the airline’s global brand.

The partnership will also support live concerts, audience engagement programmes, and exclusive hospitality experiences connected to selected performances. Emirates will continue to serve as a presenting partner for major concert series, helping expand the orchestra’s reach beyond Australia to international audiences.

According to Craig Whitehead, Chief Executive Officer of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the renewal reinforces a successful relationship that has enabled the orchestra to deliver world-class performances to audiences at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall and through digital platforms globally.

The orchestra performs more than 150 concerts annually and reaches hundreds of thousands of attendees, with millions more accessing its digital recordings. Emirates’ continued support is expected to enhance accessibility to classical music while strengthening cultural partnerships within the global arts community.

The Emirates Sydney Symphony Orchestra partnership also reflects the airline’s broader commitment to supporting arts and culture worldwide, complementing its sponsorship activities across sports, literature, and international cultural initiatives.
