A new automated gate system has been installed at Abuja’s Wuse Market to prevent revenue leakages and ensure proper monitoring of traders and visitors.

Nijatravel reports that the innovation, developed by KC Solutions Limited, combines biometric verification, automated ticketing, and real-time tracking to guarantee that all market entrants are registered and fees are collected efficiently. The system is designed to reduce fraud, human error, and unauthorized access, enhancing transparency in revenue management.

According to KC Solutions’ Managing Director, Mr. Chidi Okoro, the gate allows authorities to record every person entering the market automatically, eliminating manual processes and strengthening accountability. The technology is part of a broader plan to implement similar systems in major commercial centres across Nigeria.

The initiative has received commendation from market leaders and traders’ associations, who see it as a major step toward modernizing market administration and boosting revenue. Some traders, however, called for proper sensitization to ensure smooth adoption of the new system.

Officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) noted that the automated gate could serve as a model for other markets nationwide, integrating with digital payment platforms to streamline fee collection and improve overall market operations.
