Thirty-eight worshippers who were abducted from the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State, have regained their freedom after days in captivity. The victims, who were seized during a church programme, were released following coordinated security operations.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed their rescue, describing the development as a huge relief for the state and the families affected. He said the successful operation involved joint efforts by security agencies and local community support.

The governor noted that the freed victims have been taken for medical evaluation and are receiving care before being reunited with their families. He also commended the resilience of the affected community and the patience shown by residents throughout the ordeal.

According to the state government, the operation reflects renewed determination to curb insecurity and ensure that criminal elements are not allowed to undermine peace in the state.

The authorities vowed to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and prevent future attacks on worship centres and other vulnerable communities.
