The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has handed fines and suspensions to Senegal and Morocco following incidents during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.
CAF’s disciplinary committee cited crowd disturbances, misconduct by team officials, and breaches of competition regulations as reasons for the sanctions. Both national associations were fined and warned that repeat offences could lead to harsher penalties, including match bans or exclusion from future competitions.
In addition, several players and officials from both sides received suspensions for their involvement in on-field altercations, while the associations were instructed to ensure stricter adherence to CAF rules in upcoming tournaments.
The move underscores CAF’s commitment to maintaining discipline and fair play in African football, ahead of preparations for AFCON 2027. Both Senegal and Morocco have been given a deadline to comply with the directives and report back to the governing body.
