Dangote Sugar Invests Over $700m to Boost Nigeria’s Self-Sufficiency Drive.

Dangote Sugar Refinery has disclosed that it has invested more than $700 million in land acquisition, machinery, infrastructure, manpower development, community relations, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects as part of efforts to help Nigeria attain self-sufficiency in sugar production and end raw sugar importation.

The company said the massive investment aligns with the Federal Government’s National Sugar Master Plan, which aims to stimulate local production and create jobs across the value chain.

According to the refinery, substantial progress has been made in developing sugar estates, building processing plants, and empowering host communities to support the industry’s long-term sustainability.

It emphasized that the company remains committed to advancing Nigeria’s backward integration agenda and ensuring that the country becomes a net producer of sugar in the near future.

Dangote Sugar reaffirmed that with continued support from the government and stakeholders, Nigeria can achieve its target of self-sufficiency while driving economic growth and reducing dependency on imports.
