Tragedy struck onboard a British Airways flight in the early hours of yesterday when a Nigerian passenger reportedly died midair while en route from London Heathrow Airport to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja.
According to reports, the passenger was said to have developed a medical emergency during the flight. Despite efforts by the cabin crew and other passengers to provide assistance, the individual was later confirmed dead before the aircraft landed in Abuja.
Upon arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the airline’s crew promptly notified airport health and security officials, who boarded the aircraft to handle the situation in accordance with aviation protocols. The deceased’s body was subsequently taken into the custody of the airport medical team for further examination and formal procedures.
British Airways expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased, describing the incident as deeply unfortunate. The airline also assured that it is cooperating fully with relevant authorities to ensure all necessary steps are taken respectfully and appropriately.
The identity of the passenger has not yet been disclosed as investigations continue. Meanwhile, airport sources confirmed that the flight landed safely, and all other passengers disembarked without incident.
