President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally sought the approval of the Nigerian Senate for the 2025 Appropriation Bill of Rivers State, currently under emergency rule. The bill proposes a total budget of ₦1.481 trillion.
In a move to ensure continuity in governance and development in Rivers State, President Bola Tinubu transmitted the 2025 Appropriation Bill of the state to the Senate for consideration and approval.
Akelicious reports that the request follows the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers back in March 2025 — which transferred budgetary oversight of the state from its dissolved Assembly to the National Assembly.
The President said that ₦324bn of the amount will be expended on infrastructure, ₦166bn on health, ₦75.6bn on education and ₦31.4bn on agriculture.
The Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Rivers State Matters has been tasked with reviewing the bill in detail and returning recommendations without delay.
